As a hormone specialist, I am often asked,

“What is the simplest, most cost-effective, thing I can do to help balance my hormones?”

My Answer?

Eat more greens–and the easiest eay to do this?

Drink a quart of green smoothies daily.

Smoothies are a simple, 10 minute habit you can perform daily to radically improve your health, hormones and aging process in a quick and impactful way.

Truth.

Drinking 1 quart of green smoothies each day, can help to:

Balance hormones, cortisol, insulin, and perimenopausal high estrogen levels (estrogen dominance),

Improve your mood,

Improve your digestion,

Reduce your body weight,

Improve your aging experience,

Improve your quality of life.

And, you can make your smoothie the ULTIMATE smoothie by boosting the nutrition even more—add 1 scoop of vegan organic  protein and 1T ground flax–to build muscle, stay full and satisfied longer,  and balance your blood sugars.

This is my favorite, simple go-to smoothie–

Keep it simple, and remember 3, 2, 1:

3 cups of fluid and greens,

2 cups of fruit, and

At least 1 serving of your favorite superfoods (I add 3 or more superfoods to my ultimate smoothies–see recipe).

Simple 3, 2, 1 Hormone Balancing Green Smoothie:

3 cups water

3 cups greens

2 cups fruit

1 scoop vegan protein (superfood)

1 T ground flax (superfood)

Optional: 1/2 T Maca (superfood)

Blend well, and enjoy a quart a day for rockstar results in your life and health.

Protein helps burn fat and build muscle–this is very important as we age, especially as we enter perimenopause (which begins when progesterone levels drop in our late 30’s, ladies), and especially as we move into menopause (which begins near age 48-50 years for many).

The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism burns and the less body fat you have. Less body fat also ontributes to more balanced perimenopausal estrogen levels, too.

Protein also balances blood sugar and insulin levels.  This helps buffer high stress hormone (cortisol) levels. Protein will make your green smoothie “last” like a complete meal since it moves through the digestive tract more slowly.

I love using ground flax for a superfood boost in omegas–great for balancing mood. Coconut oil and avocados are another great source for healthy omegas that can be added to smoothies.

I also love to use sprouts. I sprout my own seeds and add the sprouts to smoothies and salads for a natural omega boost.

By eating sprouted seeds,  an enormous amount of living nutrition–upward of 400-700%–is released from the seed into your body.

Sprouting boosts fiber, protein, and omegas while it decreases calories. It also provides essential digestive enzymes to help the pancreas, gut, and liver with their digestive duties.

Maca improves energy, reduces the cortisol stress hormone, and improves libido. Keep your dose low–start with 1/2 T and dont exceed 1T daily.

So add a smoothie to your healthy lifestyle regimen daily and reap the benefits!

Live Life Optimally,
