Learning to make healthy food swaps is an important part of your wellness and lifestyle plan.

And being healthy isnt about avoid everything that tastes good–like your favorite treats.

It’s simply learning to make the food you love healthier for you.

For example, it’s simple to make your favorite treats into much healthier versions of themselves by making a few simple easy swaps in your recipes:

*Swap: refined sugar for medjool dates, bananas, or applesauce (this adds fiber and antioxidants, too). Grade B maple syrup, coconut sugar, raw organic honey, molasses, and organic truvia are options, too.

*Swap: dairy milk for almond or coconut milks (nut milks are packed more vitamin D, omegas, and protein that dairy milk)–just make certain they are carrageenan-free. You can also make your own nut milks are home–they are the best tasting that way!

*Swap: overly processed chocolate and cocoa powder for raw organic cacao or cacao nibs.

*Swap: white flour for almond flour, coconut flour, and oat flours. I use the almond pulp from my homemade nut milks, freeze it (so it dries out a bit), then grind it in my blender into almond flour and use this for baking instead of white flour.

*Swap: a portion of the nut flours (remember, avoid the white processed stuff) in your baking recipes for protein powder or ground  flax for an added boost in superfoods–this will also keep you full longer since protein and flax are more dense and will move through your digestive track more slowly, balancing your energy and blood sugar levels:

Replace 1/3c of 1 cup flour mix with vegan protein; or replace 1/4c of 1 cup flour mix with ground flax

*Swap eggs for  flax-eggs (more omegas and fiber!)–easy to do!

Replace each egg in a recipe: substitute it with 1T ground flax +3 T water. Let sit to thicken, and then you have a flax egg.

*Swap vegetable oils, margarines and hydrogenated oils for healthier oils like: coconut oil, olive oil, and where possible avocados.

Simple tricks to superfood your life, and make healthy substitutions for your healthy lifestyle, hormone balance and healthy aging.
